A Boy Named Joe

While cleaning out my office to make room for Dr. Nicole to join us in our space, I came across a blog that I had written for the local paper a couple years ago.  As I read it, I realized I still have so much work to do!  So, I’d like to share it again and ask for your help so we can inspire more families to live healthier lives!

A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I were flying home after an amazing seminar weekend. During our magnificent stay in New Mexico, we learned how to be the best versions of ourselves so that we could better serve our community. We couldn’t wait to get back to the office Monday to see patients and start giving back!

On our connecting flight from Dallas to Minneapolis, a little boy named Joe was seated behind us. My observation, based upon Joe’s mannerisms and verbal skills, was that Joe was on the autism spectrum. He was so upset by the little TV on the plane; you know that one that shows the safety video and movies? He kept kicking the seat, hitting his sister and yelling “NO TV” despite his mother’s pleas for him to talk quietly.

As I sat there listening, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratefulness. Grateful that our children are “healthy”. Then, I quickly felt angry. Angry that we aren’t doing enough to save these kids. Angry that we are not preventing these disorders. Yes, preventing! How do we do that? We get informed and make educated decisions about what we are doing to our kids. Their perfect, pure little bodies are being assaulted with GMOs, pesticides, herbicides, hormones, artificial colors, flavors & sweeteners. And that’s just what we’re feeding them! Then there are induced births, more than 26 vaccines before age 6, the overuse of antibiotics and a drug for every other symptom they may exhibit.

Do you know this generation is not expected to live as long as their parents? This is NOT healthcare…this is sick care. It is unacceptable, it must change, we need to wake up!

Joe settled down once he was able to block his view of the TV with his jacket and play on his iPad. So, what started as an exciting trip home to see our 3 boys and to serve our patients even better, has turned into a mission. A mission to transform the lives of millions in our community from surviving to thriving, through chiropractic care, nutrition, exercise and positive thoughts. We’re committed to living this message out loud…who’s with us?

Now is a great time to refer a child to our office.  Until the end of September, children will receive their initial visit (including exam, nervous system scans and x-rays) for a $49 donation to the local food shelf, CAER.  Call 763-441-0999 to schedule an appointment today!
